The Gesellschaft für Didaktik der Mathematik (GDM) or Society for Research in Mathematics Education is a scientific society dedicated to the advancement of mathematics education, with a particular focus on German-speaking countries. Its members are primarily all those interested in mathematics education research in German-speaking countries and bring together people from academia, the active teaching profession and teacher training and further education. The GDM also maintains cooperation with institutions abroad that pursue similar goals.

The society was founded during its Annual Conference, held on March 12–13, 1975, in Saarbrücken, Germany.

Its executive board consists of a first and second chairperson, a secretary, and a treasurer. These positions are elected by the annual general assembly of members. A scientific advisory board supports the executive board in all academic matters. Operational tasks are handled by the administrative office, which assists the board in day-to-day activities.
